Tonight’s sky

New moon

0% lit and waning. The moon is new tonight.

One cycle, eight faces

Every 29 and a half days the moon runs its full circuit: dark to crescent to full and back into the dark. The old ways read each face as a season in miniature: a time to begin, a time to push, a time to gather, a time to let go. You do not need to believe anything in particular for the rhythm to be useful; it is a calendar older than calendars.

Tonight

New moon

The sky goes dark and the cycle begins again. The new moon belongs to beginnings: intentions named plainly, slates wiped clean, seeds set in the dark where no one can judge them yet.

What to expect

A quiet, inward pull. Set intentions, start the journal, cleanse your tools and your thresholds. Plant now; push later.

Waxing crescent

The first sliver of light: intention taking root. Hope with a direction. What was named at the dark moon begins, slowly, to answer.

What to expect

Gathering momentum and small proofs. Feed the intention daily: hang the bell, take the first concrete step, say it out loud.

First quarter

Half-lit and decisive. The first quarter is the working moon, where obstacles surface precisely so you can choose to push through them.

What to expect

Friction that asks for resolve. Act on the hard thing you have been circling. Protection and courage workings sit well here.

Waxing gibbous

Almost full. The patience moon: refinement, adjustment, the tending of things already growing. Trust the process you started.

What to expect

Restlessness before the crest. Fine-tune rather than force. Tend altars, revisit intentions, prepare for the culmination.

Full moon

Culmination. The whole face lit, nothing hidden. Power, clarity, and gratitude, and the permission to release what the light reveals as finished.

What to expect

Heightened everything: emotions, dreams, results. Charge stones and water, complete workings, give thanks, and let the finished things go.

Waning gibbous

The harvest moon of the cycle, also called disseminating. Time to share what the working taught you and take stock of what it brought.

What to expect

A generous, reflective ease. Teach, thank, tidy the books. Gratitude work and gentle unwinding of whatever peaked at the full.

Last quarter

Half-dark and honest. The releasing moon: forgiveness, banishing, the deliberate breaking of habits that no longer serve the work.

What to expect

A clearing-out energy. Sweep the corners, return borrowed things, cut the cord you have been pretending not to see.

Waning crescent

The balsamic moon: surrender and rest. The last light thins toward the dark, and the only task left is to stop working.

What to expect

Low tide. Rest without guilt, tend your dreams, sit with the quiet. The cycle turns again whether or not you push it.

Every piece in the shop is set out under the moon it answers to before it ships: candles for the waxing work, stones for the full, quiet things for the dark.
